Staff from the National Zoological Museum, Copenhagen visit the Division of Mammals

Earlier this summer osteo-preparator John Ososky hosted two colleagues from the National Zoological Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark (ZMUC), Abdi Hadayat, and Kristian Gregersen.  The National Zoological Museum is currently constructing a new whale hall and sought the expertise of Department of Vertebrate Zoology staff John Ososky and Charley Potter in marine mammal specimen preparation and collections management practices.

This association may result in new and important marine mammal specimen acquisitions for the NMNH.  Abdi, Kristian, and John plan to attend a conference next year in Copenhagen focused on how museum professionals can cooperate to improve the quality of marine mammal specimens and expand the diversity of individual collections through museum exchanges and joint research expeditions.
