The space shuttle Discovery (OV-103) was transferred this morning from NASA to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) at Dulles Airport. But not before buzzing over DC, atop a modified 747 that has transported shuttles from coast to coast. Quite a regal sendoff, and the crowds on the Mall were electrified!

...nothing like getting the glossy, Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology reprints in the mail. Here's Jorge giving Dave a copy of our JVP paper on Bohaskaia, signed by both authors. Pretty satisfying.
We also note, in solemn fashion, the passing of Frank C. Whitmore, Jr., to whom the paper was dedicated. (Frank was 96 years old, and was the last surviving founding member of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology). Frank did know about the paper, its dedication and its namesake, before he died. We will post more in tribute to Frank's life and career in the future; more remembrances can be read at the moment over on Butch Dooley's blog, under the 20 March 2012 post.
