Just a quick report on Biocubing with students!
Recently, Chris Meyer from our department and Sea McKeon from the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce, Florida were in the field, in Mo'orea, French Polynesia, with a group of students aged 12-18 from Ross School. These fortunate students got to work with National Goegraphic photographer David Littschwager and stay at the University of California Berkeley Gump Research Station. They were using the concept of a biocube to investigate biodiversity at a manageable scale. See some of what they took away from the experience in the embedded video below.
Also, Chris did two live webcasts on Thursday April 10 to discuss the science of Measuring Biodiversity at NMNH's Q?rius Center. Good job Chris, Maggie Benson and the rest of the team putting together the webcasts.

Doing this sort of work, biocubing, with students appears to provide them with powerful experiences.
